January 2002
Happy New Year to all members and
their families.
AUSTRALIA DAY SATURDAY 26TH JANUARY
As many people head to the beach
on Australia Day, the Club and Learn to Swim are having a Fund Raising Sausage Sizzle at the pool from 10.30am.
Swimming will follow as normal at
1.15pm.
So join us for a sausage sandwich
and celebrate Australia’s birthday. Any
offer of help on the day would be much appreciated.
Please make sure you take a swim
programme for the remainder of the swim season - keep it in a safe place so you
know strokes and distances each week.
Championship Day will be Saturday,
23th February, at 1pm.
Mark names off by 12.45pm. Normal handicap races are not held on
this day. Our club follows the rules
and distances of NSW Swimming, which includes starting each championship with a
pistol shot, using correct stroke, turn and finish.
Note longer distance championship
races are held from Saturday, 26th January until Saturday, 16th March. The championship race is held first at 1pm but normal handicap races follow at
1.30pm after the championship race (refer
to championship program).
Swimmers must swim long distance
to be eligible for the long distance championships.

CARNIVALS
3 WAY MEET
Each season we participate in a 3 WAY MEET with Collaroy and Queenscliff Swimming clubs. It is a fun afternoon and our club usually
does well.
It is a handicap carnival; each
swimmer can swim in 3 events - two races, plus a club relay.
This year the meet is hosted by us
and is on Saturday 9th March at 1.00pm at Narrabeen rock pool.
Drinks and sausage sandwiches are available.
I will have entry forms and more
information available soon. I will also
call for some help - before the meet if someone could type up the program and
on the day.
WEEKLY SWIM RESULTS
Thanks to Alan Gray will be now
be sending our swim results to the Manly Daily for publication each week. So keep an eye on the Daily for your name!!
CLUB RECORDS
Congratulations to Bree Gregory
for breaking the Under 14 and Senior 50M Butterfly and 100M Backstroke Club
Records. Records can be broken at any
time but advance notice is required as we need three stopwatches to record the
time.
I am away for the next two weeks
so I will see you again on Australia Day.
Til then, good swimming……
